The man who made Krav Maga famous in the Human Weapon series, master Eyal Yanilov, demonstrated how to be alert and keep oneself safe to an enthusiastic audience at the seminar-cum-workshop on self defence organised by Krav Maga Global on Sunday in Bandra.
He spoke about certain elements of self defence to deal with an attack initiated for various reasons — domination, or because the attacker sees you as a prey or a person who can provide him/her the means (like money) to meet his end purpose.
During the workshop, he covered the subject of knife threats and attacks. He also briefly covered the topic of third party protection, like protecting your friend or relative from a person armed with a knife.
The participants were taken through warm-up, wherein elements of solutions to knife attacks were incorporated. He then took them through the human response to such knife threats or attacks and explained that Krav Maga Global solutions are based on natural response. He also demonstrated the solutions, taking the participants through the process of protecting someone else.
Towards the end, they were taken through a process of increased aggression and, therefore, focused determination to try to defend themselves and not get hurt by the attacker.
